Northern Killer Badge

The “Northern Killer” badge was presented to Keith by Bruce Flemming in recognition of his outstanding achievement in Association Croquet.

This badge is awarded to a player upon completing their first triple peel (TP) in a Croquet Queensland sanctioned tournament event, marking a significant milestone in their croquet journey.

Keith earned this honour during the Rene Cole 1st Division Association Croquet (AC) tournament held in Toowoomba.

The triple peel (TP) accomplishment highlights Keith's skill and dedication to the sport, and the presentation of the badge by Bruce serves as a memorable moment in his croquet playing.

Congratulations Keith.

KEEPING SCORE IN GOLF.

Question:

What do we know about keeping score in Golf Croquet?

Answer:

Rule Book

7.8 KEEPING THE SCORE Both sides are responsible for keeping the correct score. After each point is scored, the side that caused the point to be scored (or a referee, if present) should announce the score, or, if available, place a scoring clip on the hoop or update the scoreboard.

4.2.6 Scoring clips - check it out.

What does this look like on the lawn:

Each side carries six scoring clips or pegs (Pegs) in their own colour:

Blue and Black Balls - Blue Pegs

Red and Yellow Balls - Red Pegs

Why six? In a 13‑point game, the first side to run 7 hoops wins — so you only ever need six Pegs to mark the hoops you’ve already won.

  • When a side wins a hoop, they place one of their Pegs on that hoop – at Eildon,  the Peg goes on the side of the hoop not the top.

Pegs are used for Gala Days, Pennants and Tournaments - but not usually on Club Days.

There are other options for Club Days – you can rely on memory, trust someone else to keep track, or use Scoring Beads.

If you’re after some Scoring Beads, Judy has some available – just have a chat with her.

Excellent effort Eildon Croquet Club . You only missed the overall points trophy by half a point. See you all next year.
ETIQUETTE.

🎯 Respect the Striker (of both games on the lawn)

Once a player steps up to their ball, they’re entitled to a quiet, still space.

  • Pause conversations until the shot is complete.
  • Stay still — no shifting, walking, or rummaging.
  • Keep shadows and movement out of the striker’s line of sight.

πŸ‘£ Where to Stand

Positioning makes a huge difference to concentration.

  • Stand well to the side and behind the striker.
  • Avoid standing directly behind the hoop being run or the line of sight.

🌱 A Simple Rule That Solves Most Problems

If the striker can see you, you’re probably too close.

This one guideline prevents most accidental distractions and keeps play smooth for everyone.
